For three months, an armored truck employee peeled off some cash for himself as he made his ATM rounds in Dakota County, according to a felony criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

Malcolm E. Scott, 22, of Robbinsdale, was charged in Dakota County District Court with one count of theft, alleging that he stole nearly $3,400 while working for Dunbar Armored Car Co.

According to the complaint:

Dunbar contacted police after detecting cash shortages in ATM deposits at two locations in Lakeville.

The shortages occurred from Dec. 1 to March 2.

The company's internal investigation pointed to Scott being responsible.

Scott confessed to Dunbar officials that he took the money as he made collections from the machines.

Scott was charged by summons. He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
