DivISION II playoffs second round, Saturday

Midwestern State (10-0) at MSU Mankato (12-0), noon: Midwestern State, located in Wichita Falls, Texas, rallied from an early 17-point deficit to defeat Sioux Falls 24-20 at home in the first round Saturday for the Mustangs' first playoff victory in 11 seasons. The Mustangs are averaging 502.1 yards in total offense and 311.8 passing yards per game. They have been led by junior Layton Rabb, who has passed for 2,839 yards and 28 TDs. The Mavericks defeated visiting Colorado State-Pueblo 16-13 in overtime last week. The Mavericks defense is giving up an average of 13.6 points per game.

DivISION III playoffs SECOnd round, Saturday

Berry (11-0) at St. Thomas (10-1), noon: Berry is coming off a 34-20 first-round victory over Huntingdon in its first-ever NCAA Division III playoff game. The Vikings, of Mount Berry, Ga., have been led by junior Slade Dale, who has passed for 1,770 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 552 yards and eight TDs. Dale has thrown just one interception. The Tommies defeated visiting Eureka 47-8 in the first round. St. Thomas is second in Division III in scoring (52.2 points per game) and leads D-III in total defense (147.8 yards per game).
