Architect Edward Kodet Jr. wins Gold Medal from AIA Minnesota

The lifetime-achievement award recognizes Kodet for teaching as well as design.

Minneapolis architect Edward Kodet Jr. will be given the 2010 Gold Medal by the group AIA Minnesota. The prize recognizes Kodet both for designs created by him and his firm, Kodet Architectural Group, and for his influence as a teacher at the University of Minnesota.

Kodet's projects in the Twin Cities include Baker Golf Course in Medina, French Regional Park Building in Plymouth, Burroughs Elementary School in Minneapolis, Whittier Elementary School for the Arts in Minneapolis, and Hopkins Public Library in Hopkins. He also has long been interested in historic preservation, restoration and reuse of significant older buildings.

Kodet attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota School of Architecture, and counted architect Ralph Rapson as a mentor. The Gold Medal will officially be given to him at an AIA Minnesota meeting later this year.
