Carrie Underwood was a little pitchy in her pageant dress at the ACMs There are almost as many country-music awards shows as there are mock NFL drafts. We watch, we comment and we move on. Since Academy of Country Music Awards gave out hat-topped trophies on Sunday, we'd like to offer our comments – our boots, if you will – on the ACMs. · Collaborations, a mainstay of recent Grammy Awards, can work in country, too – "Travelin' Band" by John Fogerty, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert and others; a bar-room-like "Barbie Doll" by Jack Ingram and Dierks Bentley; and even Toby Keith with saxophonist Dave Koz on the tender "Cryin for Me." · Carrie Underwood may have won the most prestigious award, entertainer of the year for the second consecutive year, but she proved that Taylor Swift isn't the only one who is a little pitchy singing on TV awards shows. · Paisley fell into a hot tub at the end of his performance of "Water" but he's no Pink. (See this year's Grammy-stealing moment.) · Note to Taylor Swift and Laura Bell Bundy: More singing and less stagey. · Best line of the night came from Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn, who embark on their farewell tour this week: "We're currently in therapy with Brett Favre trying to figure out how to waffle on this." · Matthew McConaughey, a presenter for the second consecutive year, explained how he and his gal pal conceived their daughter after last year's ACMs. TMI. · Hey fellas, how come Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Garth Brooks are the only male country singers who get gray hair? · Having Darius Rucker close the evening with "Forever Road" seemed to be misguided and underwhelming. Give us one of the night's big winners, please.
