An effort to recruit and retain turkey hunters in Minnesota continues again this spring. Mentor volunteers will lead Minnesota adults and children (ages 12-17) on turkey hunts supported by the state Department of Natural Resources and the National Wild Turkey Federation program.
The deadline to apply is Monday. All participants must be first-time turkey hunters, and will need a firearms safety certificate to participate. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the hunt. The hunt schedule is April 22-23. A pre-hunt orientation also is required.
