Apple Valley guard Tre Jones was named Minnesota's Mr. Basketball on Wednesday night at the Timberwolves' game with Atlanta at Target Center. Jones, who has signed with Duke, led the Eagles to second place in the Class 4A boys' basketball state tournament last week. He was not present to receive his award. Instead, Jones was playing in the McDonald's All-American Game in Atlanta. Jadee Jones accepted the honor on Tre's behalf, and another brother, Wolves point guard Tyus Jones, applauded from the timeout huddle. Other finalists for Mr. Basketball were Gabe Kalscheur of DeLaSalle, Owen King of Caledonia, Daniel Oturu of Cretin-Derham Hall and Calvin Wishart of Delano. STAFF REPORTS
