Temperatures soared over California for a second straight day on Monday;most of the temperatures that reached record heights were in areas spanning theGreat Valley and the Bay area as well as Southern California. On Tuesday, the outcome will be much the same, at least inland, astemperatures will climb yet again to the 90s over the Great Valley, otherinland valleys and the desert southeast of the state. The day's heat willbreak, or at least rival, daily record highs from Redding and Red Bluff toFresno and Bakersfield as well as from San Jose to Sacramento.

However, the outcome will be different along the immediate coast, both inSouthern California and the Bay Area. Immediate Los Angeles, Orange County andSan Diego will all cool noticeably Tuesday owing to a light onshore wind flow.
