The Anoka-Hennepin School District recently filled two key administration positions.
The district hired Jennifer Cherry last month as its Title IX coordinator. The position was one of two created in the settlement of an anti-bullying lawsuit against the district earlier this year. Cherry will coordinate reporting and investigation of reports of bullying, harassment or discrimination at school, as defined by federal law and the Minnesota Human Rights Act. Her background is in human resources and education.
The district also hired Joel VerDuin as its chief technology and information officer, after Patrick Plant retired in late June. VerDuin comes to the district from Wausau, Wis., where he was that district's director of technology and media services for the past 10 years.
On Monday, the school board also will announce the appointment of a replacement for Kathy Tingelstad, who left the board in protest after members approved a consent decree settling the lawsuit.
