Anoka County Sheriff's Office investigating sexual allegations made against former school staffer

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office is investigating at least two reports of students being sexually assaulted by a former staffer at Anoka Middle School for the Arts.

The investigation was initiated by a former student who reported being sexually assaulted by a male staffer nine years ago. The victim, now an adult, made the report Thursday to law enforcement officials.

The Sheriff's Office received a second report of a sexual assault allegedly occurring last year and naming the same suspect.

Anoka-Hennepin School District officials said in a statement that the staffer resigned last June. He first started working at the middle school in 2005 and during his tenure received three complaints that did not result in disciplinary action.

Officials were not releasing the name of the suspect, who had not been arrested or charged as of Monday.

The district first became aware of one of the accusations Friday and "took immediate action to report this complaint to law enforcement," spokesman Jim Skelly said. The district and sheriff's office asked that people with information call 763-427-1212.
