Angie Craig, running as the DFL candidate in the Second Congressional District, raised $650,000 in the second quarter, according to a news release from the campaign.

After raising $450,000 from donors while giving the campaign $200,000 of her own money, the campaign has $1.8 million cash-on-hand, according to the release.

The Second Congressional is an open seat being vacated by Rep. John Kline, a Republican in office since 2002.

The district has changed and become more favorable to the DFL.

A large field of GOP candidates will compete in the primary to replace Kline, who has endorsed Darlene Miller, a businesswoman. Republican candidates have not released second quarter fundraising totals yet.

Given the Democrats' chances to flip the seat, the district is attracting national money and politcal talent and will likely be one of the most watched Congressional races in the country.
