We wrote yesterday that the Vikings had interest in free-agent right tackle Andre Smith. They apparently like him enough to wine and dine him.

A league source has confirmed that Smith is scheduled to visit the Twin Cities on Sunday. Somebody alert the staff at Manny's Steakhouse.

Smith, the sixth overall pick out of Alabama in 2009, has spent his entire NFL career with the Bengals, who, as I'm obligated to point out, also employed Mike Zimmer for some of that time. Smith made 73 career starts there. He is a big run-blocking right tackle at 6-foot-4 and 335 pounds.

Despite a pretty crowded group at offensive tackle with Matt Kalil, Phil Loadholt, Carter Bykowski, Austin Shepherd and maybe even Mike Harris, the Vikings are still open to adding more competition there.

We'll see in a couple of days if the Vikings can work something out with Smith — assuming another team doesn't swoop in before then.

Oh, by the way, KSTP first reported the correct date for Smith's visit.
