An outsider's take on Matt Kalil

ANOTHER OPINION

A well-placed talent evaluator with a team that has played the Vikings offered this assessment of rookie left tackle Matt Kalil:

"He has a very bright future. He is very athletic with good foot quickness and length to handle finesse pass rushers. He will have problems with power rushers due to his lack of bulk and inability to consistently anchor.

"His biggest limitations are in the run game. He is a little above average in this area. He will never be an explosive, road-grader type. He lacks the consistent pad level and bulk [no rear end] but he can compensate by using his foot quickness, flexibility and body control to sustain and position to wall off defenders.

"Very effective player when he is pulling; good quickness and agility to adjust in space."
