Stephen Sondheim will be in Minneapolis on March 5, to chat about his life as a Broadway legend. Sondheim will launch the "Living Legends Series" at the State Theatre, joining in a conversation with Graydon Royce and Rohan Preston of the Star Tribune (full disclosure: we will not be compensated). Sondheim's mark on musical theater stretches all the way back to "Gypsy" and includes his collaboration with Leonard Bernstein on "West Side Story;" Tony winners "Company," "Sweeney Todd" and "Passion." In addition, Sondheim has won the Pulitzer Prize and two Grammys. He'll talk about his partners through the years — including Bernstein, Jerome Robbins, Oscar Hammerstein II and James Lapine — and a creative process that has helped transform musical theater. What does he think of current Broadway successes and failures? Where is musical theater headed and who will succeed him? "Living Legends" is a new series from the Hennepin Theatre Trust.
