Giants turn out lights on Cardinals• SAN FRANCISCO 7, ST. LOUIS 5: Nate Schierholtz hit a tying single with two outs in the ninth inning, then got the go-ahead hit in the 11th for the visiting Giants. Play was halted for 16 minutes with two outs in the bottom of the 11th when large sections of two light standards failed. When play resumed, Brian Wilson needed one pitch to retire Allen Craig for his 15th save.
• CINCINNATI 4, MILWAUKEE 3: Jay Bruce and Joey Votto hit two-run homers in the seventh and eight innings, respectively, for the host Reds. Francisco Cordero became the 22nd reliever to rerecord 300 saves.
• WASHINGTON 2, PHILADELPHIA 1: Laynce Nix hit a homer in the fourth and made a bases-loaded diving catch in the sixth for the host Nationals.

• Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez was struck in the face while diving for a grounder in the seventh. He received stitches for a cut inside his mouth and on his upper lip.
