Alliance for a Better Minnesota in Dayton's corner, again

The Alliance spent millions on anti-Emmer ads during the campaign, now it is recruiting volunteers for Dayton's recount efforts

The Alliance for a Better Minnesota acted as a Democratic attack dog during the gubernatorial election, running millions of dollars of ads trashing Republican Tom Emmer.

After the election, its executive director went to work for Democrat Mark Dayton's recount effort and the head of the Alliance's chief funder became Dayton's recount manager.

Now the Alliance is recruiting volunteers to help with Dayton's recount effort.

"To make sure this recount goes smoothly, we need help from people all over the state," the pitch said. "To find out how to help, fill out the volunteer form below. Someone from the Dayton recount effort will follow up with you soon after to see where you can fit in. Together, we can make sure that Republicans don't try and squeeze through their extreme agenda by delaying the recount process."

The pitch was posted to the Alliance's blog and emailed to those on the group's list. Interestingly, the email reporters received had their names already filled in on the sign up form.
