Alcohol, no seat belt factors in car crash north of Pequot Lakes that killed driver, patrol says

The driver was a 29-year-old man from Grand Rapids.

A 29-year-old man crashed his car and died early Sunday in north-central Minnesota, authorities said.

Vincent D. Kordiak, of Grand Rapids, Minn., died at the scene of the wreck in Pine River Township, about 15 miles northwest of Pequot Lakes, the State Patrol said.'

Kordiak was heading south on SW. 44th Avenue about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, when he veered into a ditch, struck a driveway and rolled his car several times, the patrol said.

The patrol said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash and noted that Kordiak did not have on a seat belt.
