JoLynn Johnson's remodeled home includes the following features, designed to accommodate aging in place:

• 36-inch doorways (wide enough for a wheelchair), with pocket doors, where possible, to eliminate having to open a swing door.

• Zero-threshhold, hard-surface floors.

• Shower equipped with grab bars, handheld shower head, bench and no-curb entry.

• Main-floor master suite with walk-in closet, bath and laundry facilities.

• Hands-free and Wi-Fi technology.
