After three months, Sabo Bridge has reopened

Pedestrians and bicyclists will have access to the bridge for the first time since February, when Minneapolis closed the span after one set of cables broke loose and a second set was removed after cracks were discovered on an anchor plate.

The Martin Olav Sabo Bridge, which has been closed for more than three months, is open again.Pedestrians and bicyclists will have access to the bridge for the first time since February, when Minneapolis closed the span after one set of cables broke loose and a second set was removed after cracks were discovered on an anchor plate.Officials said today that crews have adjusted tension on the bridge's cables and temporary supporting structures beneath the bridge deck in the last few days. A report assessing what went wrong on the city-owned bridge, which opened in November 2007, is expected in several weeks, officials said this week.
