A soccer stadium is planned for a 10-acre site near I-94, Snelling Avenue and University Avenue in St. Paul. But there is much more to the project than a stadium, including the affiliated redevelopment of the area's entire 34.5-acre superblock that includes St. Paul's Midway Shopping Center.
Â
Officials say that redevelopment will be guided by a master plan to be developed by property owner RK Midway. The public will have input into the master plan in several ways, one of which is a Snelling-Midway Community Advisory Committee.
Â
That commitee will hold its first public meeting on Monday, Nov. 30, at the Midpointe Event Center at 415 N. Pascal St. in St. Paul. The meeting will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Topics will include community use and access, jobs, adjacent green space and much more, for the stadium site and master site.
Â
According to a press release, some of the committee members are not quite plucked from the general public. The committee includes: Bill McGuire, owner of the Minnesota United soccer team; Jon Commers of the Metropolitan Council, owners of the 10-acre stadium site, and Rick Birdoff of RK Midway.
