The last anyone heard from Jennifer Scott, 17, of Champlin, she was "hanging out" with two males on the night of July 7, and on her way to a friend's house, authorities say.
Adult charges sought in fatal Brooklyn Park shooting
Fifteen minutes later, however, she was found shot to death outside the Huntington Place apartments in Brooklyn Park.
On Friday, the Hennepin County attorney's office filed a petition accusing the two males of murder and aggravated robbery.
The petition alleges that Deshawn Brasson, 16, of Brooklyn Park, aided and abetted the gunman, an 18-year-old Fridley man who has yet to be charged.
The attorney's office said in a news release that it will seek to try Brasson as an adult.
The petition, based largely on comments that Brasson allegedly made to witnesses, states that the 18-year-old pistol-whipped Scott and shot her in the head at close range.
The two planned to rob her, the witnesses quoted Brasson as saying.
Scott's cellphone, which she had used to explain her whereabouts before she was shot, was not found.
The 18-year-old suspect remained in the Hennepin County jail Friday night pending a deadline of noon Monday to charge him.
Brooklyn Park police said Friday that their investigation is continuing.
