Sorry, Adele fans. After two cancellations at First Avenue due to illness, the immensely popular British pop star will finally return to the Twin Cities— but to a bigger venue. Quite a bigger venue. Xcel Energy Center is the likely place (half an arena setup, probably). Aug. 24 is the likely date.

Expect an official announcement Thursday morning.

That's what happens when you have the biggest album of the year, "21," and a No. 1 single, "Rolling in the Deep."

Adele was scheduled to perform May 26 at First Avenue but called off the gig after she discovered during pre-concert soundcheck that she had no voice. A couple hours later June 22 was announced as the rescheduled date. Then, after playing just one more concert, Adele pulled the plug on the rest of her June tour due to laryngitis.

Some sort of exchange program will be set up for people holding tickets to the First Avenue show.

Fewer than 10 people sought refunds, said First Avenue general manager Nate Kranz.

The original show was co-promoted by First Avenue and Sue McLean & Associates. The new concert will be co-promoted by Jam Productions of Chicago as well as the aforementioned promoters.
