Today's Phil Collins news: after reports that he had retired, followed by a People.com story that he had not retired, he sets the record straight: he's retired. Reuters says:
That would seem to be final, then. Good for him for wanting to be home with his kids, but you have to wonder: couldn't they stay with the nanny for a few hours while he wanders down to the studio to warble now and then? At some point they're going to be old enough to amuse themselves, and want the old man out of the house. Go sing, Dad, it's okay! We'll just play Halo. Enjoy yourself.
UPDATE: Phil spoke to People, and said:
It's possible he just said the bit about the Alamo in passing to the Rolling Stone reporter, laughing as he said it, and was dismayed to find it in a piece that painted him as depressed and peculiar. Which would make one understand why the fellow's just said "oh, to hell with it."
