Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— Vikings rookie wide receiver Stefon Diggs continues to make the most of his opportunities. He has caught 13 passes for 216 yards in just two games.

— Sunday's close game, a 16-10 victory over Kansas City, presented Zimmer with a chance to educate his team. The Vikings coach is also hopeful starting defensive end Everson Griffen will return to practice Wednesday.

— The Vikings rookie class of 2015 is already making it's mark just five games into the season.

— Michael Rand warns that Stefon Diggs could still become the next Cordarrelle Patterson.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

— Detroit loses running back Zach Zenner, a Minnesota native, for the season. George Winn is likely the next man up for the Lions.

— Quarterback Matthew Stafford is inspired after being benched in Week 5. Stafford gave an inspired pregame speech last Sunday, but that's not that unusual, coach Jim Caldwell said.

— The Lions' leadership is till on the hot seat despite one win. They started the season 0-5 and will face a Vikings team on Sunday that already has success against them this season.

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

Players have the day off and will be back in the building at Winter Park Wednesday.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Coach Mike Zimmer had been hinting to Kyle Rudolph that his day might be coming soon. The Vikings tight end had been fulfilling a heavy blocking role through the first four games of the season before playing an important receiving role Sunday against Kansas City. He made two catches for nine yards and one touchdown. On Monday, Zimmer said "I actually talked to him last week and I said, 'Hey, I understand that you're helping a little bit more in the blocking parts of things,' and I said, 'You never know when it's going to be your day.' … To me, those are all important things about being a team, doing what you can do to help this team win and you never know when it's going to be your time."
