Access Vikings morning walkthrough: Vikings not panicking at right tackle, Teddy sets the tone and more

Phil Loadholt's injury hasn't left the Vikings in fear as they believe one of their young linemen can do the job.

Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— The Vikings learned Sunday that right tackle Phil Loadholt is definitely lost for the season, but they aren't panicking. For the time being, they plan on sticking with their young linemen instead of signing a free agent.

— Teddy Bridgewater set the pace for the Vikings quarterbacks, who all played well in Saturday night's preseason win over the Buccaneers.

— Top pick Trae Waynes had another uneven performance, but that big play by Buccaneers wideout Vincent Jackson wasn't all on the rookie.

— Here are some other takeaways from Saturday, including thoughts on Eric Kendricks, Jarius Wright, Antone Exum and Cordarrelle Patterson.

AROUND THE NFC NORTH

— Ameer Abdullah wasn't the only rookie Lions running back who stood out in their preseason opener. How about the play of Zach Zenner, the former South Dakota State standout? He rushed for 55 yards.

— Packers rookie corner Quinten Rollins impressed the other night.

— Should folks in Chicago have trust issues with Bears G.M. Ryan Pace after he lied to reporters about first-round pick Kevin White's injury?

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

Having broken camp in Mankato last Thursday, the Vikings are back to practicing at Winter Park. After the morning walkthrough, offensive coordinatorNorv Turner, who is filling in for coach Mike Zimmer as he attends his father's funeral, will chat with reporters. Practice is at 2:45 p.m.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

The Vikings made Loadholt one of the NFL's highest-paid right tackles in 2013, but injuries are preventing him from living up to that deal. He will be 30 next season with a cap number of $7.75 million, but they can save $6 million by cutting him. Loadholt has suffered season-ending injuries two years in a row and it is hard for people to come back from torn Achilles, especially when those people are 6-foot-8 and 345 pounds. It is fair to wonder if Saturday night's game will end up being Loadholt's last in purple.
