Access Vikings morning walkthrough: Teddy matches Tarkenton in blowout win, Peterson says he's OK and more

December 21, 2015 at 1:52PM

Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— With five total touchdowns, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater did his best Fran Tarkenton impression in yesterday's 38-17 win over the Bears.

— The Vikings made offensive coordinator Norv Turner look smart again by scoring four touchdowns in their four red-zone trips.

— Running back Adrian Peterson was knocked out of the game with an ankle injury but returned a quarter later, not that he was needed.

— The shorthanded defensive line was dominant against the Bears.

— Veteran outside linebacker Chad Greenway is still going strong.

— The Vikings aren't in the playoffs yet. Here's how they can clinch.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

— The Bears offense broke down so many times yesterday that digesting all their mistakes would require a steel stomach and a strong antacid.

— The Bears are officially in a freefall after losing to the Vikings again.

— Yesterday's loss showed that the Bears have no apparent strengths.

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

The Vikings report to Winter Park in the morning for meetings and film review. Coach Mike Zimmer's press conference is at 2 p.m. as usual.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Bridgewater was excellent on third down yesterday, and that probably played the biggest role in what was arguably the best performance of his young career. Four of Bridgewater's five touchdowns (three passing and one rushing) came on third down. Overall, the Vikings were 8-for-12 on third down, an area in which they have struggled this season.
