September 1, 2014 at 1:28PM

Every weekday, our Vikings reporters walk you through what's happening with the team that day.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— WR Cordarrelle Patterson, who is on the verge of stardom, nearly fell through the cracks.

— Veteran safeties Chris Crocker and Kurt Coleman were among the team's roster cuts.

— The Vikings added two players their 53-man roster and nine to their practice squad.

— The Vikings' roster continues to get younger and younger.

— Are RB Adrian Peterson's future paydays riding on his performance?

TWEET OF THE (YESTER)DAY

AROUND THE NFC NORTH

— The Bears have work to do on special teams before the season starts.

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

The Vikings begin their preparations for Sunday's season opener by practicing this morning at 10:55. Coach Mike Zimmer will talk after practice and the locker room will be open to media.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

On the 53 men on the Vikings roster, 32 are under the age of 26. That's a little over 60 percent of their players. They will have one of the youngest rosters in the league. Is that a good thing?
