Access Vikings morning walkthrough: Another all-around win, Peterson proves he's still the man and more

Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— Raiders quarterback Derek Carr put up the big numbers, but Teddy Bridgewater got the victory as the Vikings put forth another all-around effort to win their fifth straight game and take sole possession of first place.

— Running back Adrian Peterson rushed for a season-high 203 yards and a touchdown, in the process proving he is still the team's best player.

— With two interceptions and five pass break-ups, 37-year-old cornerback Terence Newman was the best defensive back on the field yesterday.

— Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson ended his long touchdown drought with a critical kickoff return for a touchdown just before halftime.

— With Eric Kendricks sitting out again, veteran linebacker Chad Greenway manned the middle on a full-time basis for the first time in his career.

— Safety Antone Exum had one of the game's best tackles — on a fan.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

— The Raiders' push toward relevancy took a hit with yesterday's loss.

— Carr was pretty good yesterday, but not enough to beat Bridgewater.

— The Raiders are clearly better than they have been for years, but they aren't good enough yet, not after another loss to a good NFL team.

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

The Vikings, who have little concern for the hectic travel schedules of their whiny beat writers, will stick to their regular Monday schedule. Coach Mike Zimmer will do his weekly day-after press conference at 2 p.m.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

We figured Bridgewater would spread the ball around this season, with a deep group of pass-catchers but no established No. 1 receiver. But yeesh, Bridgewater really is keeping everyone involved. He completed passes to nine receivers yesterday. He targeted all nine of those players at least two times apiece, and tight end Kyle Rudolph led the way with four targets. The leader in receiving yards? Rookie Stefon Diggs with 46 on two grabs.
