A visitor this summer

Help us think of fun things to do with a 12-yr-old.

"Is the Chinese boy here yet?"

That's what Maya's been asking us every other day or so.

We are expecting a visitor this summer - the son of a good friend of my husband's from China.

Chris and Jack worked together a couple of decades ago in Shanghai and became fast friends. Now Jack's sending his son to stay with us for three weeks this summer. The idea is for the boy, Jerry, to get a taste of "American life."

We're looking forward to it, especially the girls. We could also use some advice. We have a pretty good idea how to occupy two little girls in the summer in the Twin Cities, but a 12-year-old boy?

Suggestions, please!

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
