A new nationwide survey by Rent.com reveals some interesting (?) things about how likely renters are to tip building employees. It says don't show their appreciation for their building staff and household help in the way of a few shekels during the holiday. Here's the data:
- 61 percent of renters who live in apartment buildings say they do not tip their superintendent, doorman or building staff during the holidays
- Of those who do, 71 percent give $25 or less per person (enough for six cups of coffee), 21 percent give $26 to $50 (equivalent of three DVDS) and 7 percent give more.
- 30 percent of those who will tip plan to give what they gave last year.
- 5 percent will tip more this year.
Not sure what this has to do with tipping, but the survey also notes that only 36 percent of homeowners and 43 percent of renters admit to being friendlier to their neighbors during the holiday.
How do you show your appreciation for the people who work at your apartment building?
