Facebook may be a great way for finding friends, but a Minnesota woman used it to put an attacker in jail.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Sherburne County on Monday, a "visibly shaken" and scraped-up Katie Kangas, 27, of Princeton, told a deputy that she spotted a man down in the ditch and a bicycle atop his shirtless body along County Road 2, just south of Princeton, late Wednesday. She stopped, thinking he had been run over.

Kangas asked whether he was OK, and the man said he was not, walking toward her and holding his stomach.

She asked for his name and he said it was Gage.

He then jumped into Kangas' car and hit the gas. Kangas grabbed onto the moving vehicle and struggled with the man in hopes of thwarting him. He pushed Kangas off the vehicle and nearly ran her over.

On Thursday, Kangas told law enforcement she found the suspect on Facebook and his name was Gage Williams.

On Friday, Isanti County sheriff's deputies arrested Williams at his home in Stanchfield, about 25 miles northeast of the carjacking.

The deputies found Williams asleep and with the car keys in his hands, authorities said. The car was recovered parked outside his home, the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office said.

He not only admitted to the carjacking but said the bicycle also was stolen.

Williams, 26, was charged Monday with robbery in connection and remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Williams' criminal history includes convictions in Minnesota for marijuana possession, drunken driving, underage drinking and tampering with a motor vehicle.
