During the long Minnesota winter, sometimes you just want to put on your flannel gown, slippers and a Snuggie and stay in ... even on a Saturday night. At the second annual Ultimate Pajama Party, women enjoyed all of the luxuries of staying in, but in the company of friends (an upgrade!).

The event was created by Tammy Hauser, who conceived it as a "girlfriends celebration. It's all about women power, with women-owned businesses. Come together and support each other," she said.

Indeed, women in all types of nighttime attire enjoyed eyebrow waxes, shopping, trivia with Kevyn Burger, a bachelor auction and psychic readings. Some attendees spent the night at the Westin Edina Galleria and then enjoyed a bathrobe brunch the next morning. "It makes you feel like you're 13 -- and you're really 45," said Hauser. With gourmet treats and martinis, it was definitely not your tween's slumber party.

Saffron's 'Iron Chef' There was a double upset in Minnesota last weekend. As the Vikings went into overtime, a crowd of hundreds gathered at the Hotel Minneapolis to watch chef Sameh Wadi of Saffron compete against Masaharu Morimoto on "Iron Chef America." Wadi narrowly lost in the mackerel battle, but was clearly a winner in the eyes of the crowd -- as the first Minnesota chef and, at 25 years old, the youngest to compete.

"It's a Japanese fish and I gave him a run for his money," said Wadi. Indeed, defeat never looked so delicious.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
