A pain in the back

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe landed on the injury report this week. So what the heck happened?

Punter Chris Kluwe, like many of his teammates, enjoyed some time off last week during the Vikings' bye. In fact, Kluwe decided he had enjoyed it so much (read: ate too much) that late in the week he went to Winter Park to do some running.

That's exactly what Kluwe was doing, half-gassers to be exact, when he began to feel pain in his back. Kluwe ended up getting a cortisone injection in his back and received treatment. He was listed on the injury report all week but said Friday he felt fine and expressed no concern about being slowed on Sunday against Dallas.

In fact, Kluwe and kicker Ryan Longwell took their regular trip to the Metrodome on Thursday to get their punting and kicking in. The team's indoor practice facility at Winter Park is not ideal for doing either.

On another note, the NFL Network pregame show on Sunday (starts at 8 a.m.) will feature another "Super Bowl journey" feature with Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice. Here's a previous edition with Rice.
