The Bengals just had their defensive starters introduced as a group at the Metrodome before today's game against the Vikings. It seemed a bit odd -- visitors are almost always introduced as a team here -- but there was a reason for this.
Word is the Bengals asked to have their defense introduced because they were upset by Jared Allen's comments last Sunday that he felt sorry for Cincinnati. This came after the Vikings were beaten by the Cardinals in Arizona.
The Bengals wanted to make it clear no one should feel sorry for them and thus requested introductions for their defense. What type of statement that makes I have no idea, but this is the NFL and teams attempt to latch onto any lack of respect angle that they can.
Cincinnati's defensive starters were not introduced one-by-one but rather as a unit so what type of impact any of this had must be questioned. But, hey, it adds drama.
On another note, Ragnar just rode his motorcyle out onto the field, stood on the seat and motioned for Chad Ochocinco to come and get as he held his horn up. Ochocinco, of course, has threatened to try and blow the horn if he scores. The problem is the big horn is locked up during the game.
Isn't this fun?
