Don't you wish you could give your home a makeover for every season? Bachman's designers got the opportunity to transform every room in the Spring Ideas House, the historic Bachman family residence on Lyndale Avenue in south Minneapolis. The repainted and redecorated spaces are packed with lively hues, live potted plants and vintage and new furnishings.

Here are some of the ways designers mingled today's home decor trends, from bright coral to bringing the garden indoors, to create a fresh spring look:

Garden porch

• Paint trim called "Bunny Cake" sets the stage for a burst of bright prints in primary colors.

• Try a roll of real moss from a garden center as a table runner.

• Terra-cotta pots serve as napkin holders and coasters.

• A vignette of planters in different colors, shapes and sizes adds dimension.

• Use dish towels and ribbon as decorative chair tiebacks.

Dining tabletop touches

• Gray walls provide a neutral backdrop for blasts of cheery coral in tulips and place mats.

• Wall vignette adds shine with mirrors over faux antique tin wallpaper. Repeat the wallpaper in the table runner.

• Mix silver and pewter in candleholders, and garden gazing balls that light up.

• Hang a table runner as a window treatment.

Quaint kitchen

• Pantone's Colors of the Year, blush pink and dusty blue, show up in curtains, potted plants, vases and other accents.

• Make a kitchen island by using an old washstand as a base.

• Use a wooden toolbox as a napkin and utensil holder.

• Tuck decorative birds in unexpected places.

Multilayered living room

• Arrange a water fountain, outdoor garden globes and pots overflowing with ivy on the fireplace hearth.

• Add industrial metal accents with a mantel surround of faux tin ceiling panel.

• Fill an old radiator drop tray with botanical orbs and moss, and display on the mantel.

• Set out cinder blocks for plant stands.

Masterful bedroom

• A restful muted gray, white and tan palette.

• Rustic barnwood table doubles as a desk.

• Vintage dresser lined with baskets to store clothes.

• Place a glass top over a concrete birdbath to create a side table.

• Use a decorative bird cage as a candleholder.
