A Cold and Snowy January in Store

A stormy pattern will begin to set up over the nation this, the final week ofDecember, and will last well into January. This will allow cold, snowy weatherto abound for many.Storm after storm will crash ashore in the Pacific Northwest. Each will dropsnow over the mountains of the West, before emerging onto the Plains andheading towards the Eastern Seaboard, bringing more wintry weather.

This week will start with a system passing over the Northeast, which willspread accumulating snow from the Great Lakes through much of New England bytonight. Another system pressing into Texas Tuesday and traveling along theGulf Coast through the middle of the week could even bring snow to some of themajor East Coast cities by New Year's Day.
