A 20-year-old Roseville man has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing and robbery of a 19-year-old man last summer in South St. Paul.

Daniel Anthony Cruz Hernandez was charged Tuesday in Dakota County District Court with second-degree murder in the death of Jordan D. Paredes. Hernandez remains jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail ahead of a May 22 court appearance.

Paredes, of Oakdale, was the father of two children and engaged to be married.

According to the criminal complaint:

About 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 2, police were sent to the Camber Hill apartment complex in 400 block of Camber Avenue. They arrived to find Paredes on the ground, suffering from several stab wounds. He died soon after at a hospital.

Witnesses told police that three people had been attacking and robbing two others.

Hernandez and the others fled in a car. Investigators located the car six days later, and Paredes' blood was found inside.

On March 28, almost eight months after the stabbing, a witness told law enforcement that Hernandez said he stabbed Paredes and threw away the knife.

No one else has been charged in the attack.
