Wednesday's rush saw plenty of congestion, lots of crashes and a few oddities, all which made for an interesting commute.

Westbound 94 from Woodbury to Minneapolis won the award for the worst traffic as crashes at Mounds Blvd. and Lexington Avenue made for a dash pounding drive for most of the morning. Things are starting to loosen as we hit the end of the rush.

Eastbound 94 had its issues, too, as utility work at Snelling led to crammed conditions from Hwy. 280 to Lexington. That, too, has loosened as is flowing fairly well at this hour.

Overnight road work led to a big jam on southbound Hwy. 169 at I-394 until the cones were picked up just after 6 a.m.

Commuters on westbound Hwy. 36 had a few headaches as a vehicle got caught in the center median cable barriers near I-35E. The crash around 7:45 had the left lane in both directions out of commission for about 45 minutes. Westbound traffic clogged up at Hwy. 61. That one is long gone and motorists are zipping along through Roseville.

MnDOT is still cleaning up the mess made by a semitrailer truck that overturned on the ramp from northbound 35W to westbound Hwy. 13 in Burnsville. The ramp remains closed. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. and knotted up traffic from County 42 up to the Minnesota River bridge.

At present northbound 35W is crash free and just a 20-minute drive from the Burnsville Split to downtown Minneapolis.

The oddity of the morning was a horse on the loose on Hwy. 65 at 133rd Avenue NE. in Ham Lake.

Today, look for flaggers directing traffic in a road work zone on Century Avenue in the area of Hwy. 36 in North St. Paul.
