Friday's rush hour started on a sad note as one man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Hwy. 97 in Forest Lake.

The wreck reported at 5:50 a.m. occurred at Iden Avenue. The State Patrol shut down Hwy. 97 between Harrow Avenue and Manning Avenue while a reconstruction team tried to determine how the crash happened. The road remains closed.

That was the worst of things on the roads as light levels of traffic helped traffic move along. Commuters found few delays and congestion in the usual spots was not tolerable.

The oddities this morning included a wheel barrow in the left lane of northbound 35W at 98t Street shortly after 6 a.m. and a couple motorists who lost tires.

At present, we have a mishap on the right shoulder of northbound 35W at the south end of the Minnesota River bridge and on the northbound ramp from Hwy. 55 to I-494.

Transit operators reported no delays or problems this morning.
