9 a.m. update: Rush hour wrap up

Not a lot of activity in terms of stalls or crashes today, a nice break after Wednesday served up big delays.

Not a lot of activity in terms of stalls or crashes today, a nice break after Wednesday served up big delays.

One spot where commuters were held up was on I-494 in Bloomington. An early crash at East Bush Lake Road caused traffic to bunch up shortly after 6:30 a.m. and things remained tight until things finally loosened after 8 a.m. The worst bottleneck was between Flying Cloud Drive and Hwy. 100.

Westbound crammed up from Hwy. 5 over to Hwy. 100. A wreck at Penn Avenue was largely responsible for the delays there.

Police activity briefly held up drivers on westbound 94 at Lake Elmo Road and the usual congestion slowed the drive from White Bear Avenue to downtown St. Paul.

Crosstown had its moments of crowded conditions, but as we hit the end of the rush traffic is moving at close to the posted speeds.

Surprisingly, a three-car crash around 8:30 a.m. on westbound Hwy. 36 between Snelling and Fairview Avenues didn't cause much of a backup. That crash is now over on the right shoulder as police sort things out.

One other accident in progress is on the ramp from eastbound 94 to 53rd Avenue on the Brooklyn Center-Minneapolis border.

Transit, both buses and trains, moved without issue. A reminder that the Green Line will be off line in the overnight hours Friday and Saturday. Here is where buses will replace trains, according to Metro Transit.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
