9 a.m. update: Rush hour wrap up

A tragic start to the week as a two-vehicle crash in St. Michael killed at least one person, the State Patrol said. Few details are available, but the early report indicates that a northbound vehicle on Hwy. 241 broadsided another vehicle that was making a left turn onto a street leading to a gas station just south of the I-94 interchange.

A tragic start to the week as a two-vehicle crash in St. Michael killed at least one person, the State Patrol said. The Bloomington Ferry Bridge was problematic spot as two stalls and a crash had traffic jammed most of the morning. A broken down truck tangled traffic at 6:20 a.m. and another stall and wreck in the back up had commuters creeping along from Canterbury Road up to Anderson Lakes Pkwy. That trip averaged 15 minutes most of the rush.

Snelling Avenue is open now, but it was closed at County Road B for about an hour. Just after 6 a.m., a car hit a pedestrian. No word if there were any injuries with that crash.

Oakdale drivers got caught in a backup after a three-vehicle crash briefly blocked both lanes of southbound at 40th Street. The delays lasted for about 45 minutes from White Bear Avenue to the scene. Now we have road work in the vicinity of 50th Street, so expect some slowness there.

Elsewhere westbound 94 suffered heading into St. Paul due to a crash around 8 at Mounds Blvd.

Remember the All-Star Game-related closures that kick in today and Tuesday in downtown Minneapolis. The worst will be on game day, so prepare for delays coming and going into and out of downtown all day Tuesday.

I'll be back Tuesday with more live reports on your morning drive to work.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
