Friday was a smooth commute for the most part with only a handful of early accidents to muck up the drive.

Major routes didn't clog up and that made for low travel times, the kind of thing we could all get used to.

What we won't ever get used to is road work, and we have lots of it on tap this weekend. The big one is the closure of I-35E in both directions between Hwy. 36 and Interstate 94 from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Be sure to plan accordingly if you travels take you to the east metro.

I'll have more weekend traffic news later this morning.

This just in from MnDOT. The Stillwater Lift Bridge will be stuck down for the next three hours as crews try to clear a tree jam. Vehicular traffic can cross, but water traffic will be unable to pass under the bridge.
