The last of seven Minnesotans involved in a 2009 credit-card fraud scheme that targeted restaurant patrons was sentenced Thursday in federal court in St. Paul.

Demetrius Darnell Thomas, 36, of Rogers, was sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing credit and debit card information from customers at several restaurants, amounting to at least $150,000 in losses.

In 2009, Thomas and Kanetra Daniella Range, 33, also of Rogers, recruited restaurant employees to "skim" customers' bank account data, mechanically transferring account numbers from their credit or debit card to a bogus card. The conspirators then got cash and made purchases with the stolen account numbers.

The conspirators included workers from the Olive Garden, two Wendy's restaurants and the Split Rock Grill in Bloomington, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. All seven defendants were indicted in August 2010 and later pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Range was sentenced earlier to 42 months in prison.
