8:50 a.m. update: Looking better on 35W

Late rush hour commuters on southbound 35W will need only 12 minutes to get from Lake Drive down to Hwy. 280. Traffic levels have thinned out and that is helping the drive. Up ahead, look for a slow down approaching the Washington Avenue Bridge.

Late rush hour commuters on southbound 35W will need only 12 minutes to get from Lake Drive down to Hwy. 280. Traffic levels have thinned out and that is helping the drive. Up ahead, look for a slow down approaching the Washington Avenue Bridge.

Northbound 35W continues to run slow from Crosstown to downtown, with 18 minutes needed. The same is true for eastbound 394 from Hwy. 169 to Penn Avenue.

In St. Paul, commuters will still need 20 minutes from 694 over to 35E. Ahead, it's another 15 to reach downtown Minneapolis. Brake lights come on around Hiawatha mainly due to a crash at the Lowry Hill Tunnel and another one near Chicago Avenue.
