72 hours and counting: Wolves wrap up draft workouts Tuesday

The Timberwolves conclude weeks of pre-draft workouts Tuesday morning at Target Center.

Nevada's Luke Babbitt, Washington's Quincy Pondexter and Clemson's Trevor Booker are among the players -- Butler's Gordon Hayward cancelled out of the group today -- due in.

Today's group included Fresno State's Paul George and Cornell's Ryan Wittman were among the players in today.

If the Wolves are lucky, George might slip to their 16th pick overall pick. But a guy who has impressed with his athetlcisim and shot during recent workouts could go as early as No. 8 to the Clippers.

David Kahn has maintained in recent days that the Wolves almost certainly will stay where they are and pick fourth overall, although assistant GM Tony Ronzone today said that, despite media speculation that has had them for weeks picking Wes Johnson fourth, they don't know yet who or where they will pick.

As I wrote in a "Wolves Insider" for today's paper, it's sounding more and more like Kahn and Rambis would start all over again if they can with Ricky Rubio, Darko Milicic, maybe Nikola Pekovic and the players they add Thursday night.

The Sixers continue to posture that Evan Turner is their guy, but dont rule out the chance the Wolves do swing a deal for that second pick. DeMarcus Cousins (or Derrick Favors) makes a lot of sense for the Sixers, the Wolves have assets to deal and the will to come out of this draft with a player they think will be a star.

It sure would shake things up if the Sixers went and took Cousins outright at No. 2, a scenario that would drop Derrick Favors right in the Wolves' proverbial lap. A long shot to be sure, but...

Cousins worked out simultaneously with Favors in New Jersey Monday and by all reports had another impressive workout. Whether it was enough to sway the Nets away from Favors and toward Cousins...

Favors impressed with his size and speed -- he sure can run the floor -- in a Target Center workout last week and the Wolves would do cartwheels if he's available, even with Love and Jefferson already on the roster (for now at least).
