7:45 a.m. update: Trudging along on I-35 in Lakeville

It took a bit longer than normal, but the nose to nose log jam is now in place through the work zone on I-35 from County Road 70 to County Road 50. MnDOT says this should be the last rush hour with those maddening conditions as the project should be wrapped up by Monday.

Currently the trip from Elko to the Burnsville Split is running at about 20 minutes.

The other hotspot on the system is a semitrailer truck fire on northbound 35E at Pennsylvania Avenue. Traffic is jammed at I-94 past the scene. The fire is out, but the two right lanes remain blocked.
