Icy conditions and a multi-vehicle crash at County Road 50 has led MnDOT to shut down southbound I-35 at the Hwy. 19/Northfield exit.

Motorists could scoot over to Northfield and use Hwy. 3 to go north or south. Another option is to go west on 19 to County Road 23 and then north to Hwy. 13.

This closure will be in effect until further notice. Air care is going to be landing at the scene. Update: Air care has been cancelled.

Early word is that a southbound motorist entering 35 at County Road 50 hit an icy patch, slid across the median and collided with a northbound motorist head-on.
