7:35 a.m. update: Red traffic maps

It's never good to see so much red on traffic maps, but that is the case today. A flurry of crashes earlier in the rush hour has jammed several routes, and congestion persists.

You'll find lots of company on northbound 35W from Crosstown to downtown Minneapolis

It's heavy duty on southbound 35W from Lake Drive to Hwy. 280 and on westbound Hwy. 36 from Dale Street to 35W.

Things are very tight on southbound Hwy. 169 from 77th Avenue down to Hwy. 55, while northbound 169 is lagging from Canterbury Road up to 494.

It is bumper to bumper on southbound 35E from 694 down to 94. Same story on southbound 94 from Broadway to 35W.

Westbound Crosstown is crawling from 35W to Hwy. 100.

The usual slow down is in place on westbound 94 from Ruth Street to Marion Street in downtown St. Paul.
