Today must be the day for car fires. Our second one of the morning is on northbound Hwy. 169 at Hwy. 101 in Shakopee. That has traffic stacking up beginning at County Road 18.

An earlier car fire on Hwy. 100 at 394 is long gone. Up ahead, 394 is plugged up approaching 94. An earlier crash on 94 at 35W has created a traffic snarl. On eastbound 94, the slowdowns begin at 7th Street.

Drivers on southbound 35W will have plenty of company. A solid line of slow-moving traffic will accompany you from County Road 10 to Hwy. 280. That's running at about 20 to 25 minutes.

Westbound 94 is congested from Hwy. 61 to downtown St. Paul. That's adding just a couple minutes to the drive.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
