With Hwy. 36 closed in both directions between Hwy. 61 and White Bear Avenue, many of those drivers may be using I-94 in the east metro.
Whatever the reason, traffic is much heavier than usual. Things are slow and go from the Hudson bridge to downtown St. Paul. That is taking up to 30 minutes.
Ahead, things remain sluggish from Dale Street over to Hwy. 280. That is another 15 minutes.
Southbound 35W struggles from Lake Drive to County Road 96 and again from the Hwy. 280/36 commons to downtown Minneapolis. That is 15 minutes from Hwy. 36.
I-694 is getting a passing grade today with some delays through the work zone, but it's not gridlock.
Drivers on eastbound 94 from Rogers to Maple Grove will encounter some delays. Plan on 15 to 18 minutes.
And on westbound Hwy. 610 and southbound Hwy. 252, traffic is running below the posted speeds as things are heavier than normal. Maybe this will become the new normal.
