7:15 a.m. update: Lighter than normal traffic levels

So far I'm seeing lighter than normal traffic levels today, and that might be because most schools are off for the Education Minnesota weekend.

So far I'm seeing lighter than normal traffic levels today, and that might be because most schools are off for the Education Minnesota weekend.

Whatever the reason, commuters are seeing drives that are a bit quicker than on most days. One exception is on westbound 94 through Woodbury. A crash involving a semitrailer truck at Lake Elmo Avenue has tied up traffic for about an hour. The action is off on the right shoulder now, and things are starting to loosen.

Look out for a vehicle vs. deer crash on Vicksburg Lane at County 47 in Plymouth. Ditto for 89th Avenue and West River Road in the Brooklyn Park/Champlin area.

Other tight spots include 694 in both directions between Hwy. 100 and Central Avenue. That's adding a couple extra minutes to the drive.

Both directions of Crosstown between Hwy. 100 and 35W have pockets of congestion as does westbound 494 from Cedar Avenue to Hwy. 100.
